Do It On Purpose

I woke up from a dream last night. I was in a grocery store. A dad introduced me to his 8-year-old son. He told me he was a Marine. I love kids so I saluted the boy and said “congratulations!”

Then we went running excitedly through the aisles to pick out chips. (I also love snacks.)

I picked out the chips, and on the chips it said this slogan, “If you are going to burn, do it on purpose.”

And then I woke up.

I’m assuming they were spicy chips, but I was so struck by this.

If you are going to burn, do it on purpose.

If you are going to BE in this world, do it on purpose.

You matter. The people around you matter.

Do it on purpose.

I’ve been working on a digital painting of Bigfoot in the forrest. Bigfoot is friends with a bright red bird.

“Fairy tales in childhood are stepping stones throughout life, leading the way through trouble and trial. The value of fairy tales lies not in a brief literary escape from reality, but in the gift of hope that goodness truly is more powerful than evil and that even the darkest reality can lead to a Happily Ever After. Do not take that gift of hope lightly. It has the power to conquer despair in the midst of sorrow, to light the darkness in the valleys of life, to whisper 'One more time' in the face of failure. Hope is what gives life to dreams, making the fairy tale the reality.”
